Custom concrete firepit pad in West Michigan backyard

Anchor Your Outdoor Space with a Custom Concrete Firepit

A concrete firepit pad is the finishing touch that turns a backyard into an outdoor living space. Pro Concrete Services builds custom firepit pads and surrounding areas that are level, properly designed for heat exposure, and built to hold up through Michigan’s year-round weather.

Whether you want a simple circular pad for an existing fire ring or a larger entertainment area surrounding a built-in firepit, we design the concrete work to complement your yard and tie in with any adjacent patios or walkways.

What’s Included in Every Firepit Project

  • Custom shape and size — Round, square, or freeform to fit your yard and firepit design
  • Proper subbase and drainage — Graded to prevent water pooling around the fire area
  • Heat-resistant mix design — Concrete specified for proximity to open flame
  • Finish of your choice — Broom, smooth, or stamped to coordinate with existing outdoor surfaces
  • Tie-in to adjacent concrete — Seamlessly connects to existing patio or walkway if applicable
  • Full cleanup

How Your Firepit Area Gets Built

  1. Consultation and estimate — We discuss size, shape, finish, and any tie-ins to existing concrete
  2. Site prep — Excavation, grading, and subbase compaction
  3. Forms set and concrete poured — Finished to your chosen texture
  4. Curing — Foot traffic after 48 hours. Full use after 7 days
  5. Final walkthrough — Jose reviews the finished area with you before leaving

Why a Concrete Firepit Area

  • Extends outdoor living season — A firepit area makes your backyard usable from early spring through late fall in Michigan
  • Low maintenance — No gravel to rake, no pavers to reset, just durable concrete
  • Safe and stable surface — Level, non-shifting ground around a fire is a safety priority
  • Increases backyard appeal — Outdoor entertainment spaces consistently rank among top home improvement returns
  • Customizable to your space — Any size, any finish, any shape to fit your yard and firepit

Can't find your answer? Give us a call.

What size should a concrete firepit pad be?

A standard firepit pad is 12 to 16 feet in diameter - large enough for seating around the perimeter with safe clearance from the fire. If you want a more elaborate outdoor living area surrounding the firepit, we can design a larger custom pad to accommodate furniture and traffic flow.

Does concrete crack from firepit heat?

Standard concrete can be affected by direct, intense heat over time. We use a mix design appropriate for firepit proximity and recommend keeping the fire contained in a proper fire ring or bowl rather than directly on the concrete surface. Proper installation significantly reduces heat-related issues.

Can a firepit pad be stamped or decorative?

Yes - stamped concrete works well for firepit areas and surrounding patio spaces. It adds visual interest and ties the firepit area into adjacent decorative concrete. We'll discuss finish options during your estimate.

How do I maintain a concrete firepit area?

Seal the surface every 2 to 3 years to protect against moisture and staining. Remove ash and debris regularly to prevent staining. Avoid dragging metal fire rings or furniture across the surface - use rubber feet or pads to prevent scratching.

Can you tie a firepit pad into an existing patio?

Yes - this is one of the most common firepit requests. We pour the firepit pad to match the existing patio finish and tie the two surfaces together with a control joint at the seam. The result is a seamless outdoor living space.
